Inclusion in Connectivity

Project Title:

Inclusion in Connectivity – A Sensory Collaboration Across Continents

Date:

2023

Location:

Chennai, India (Remote contribution from the UK)

Role:

Lead Artist

Project Overview:

I was honoured to be invited as the Lead Artist for a powerful sensory exhibition in Chennai, India, focused on inclusive experiences for children with visual impairments and additional needs. While I couldn’t attend in person, my art—and my message—still travelled across the world.

The Concept – Braille by Numbers:

To ensure my work remained tactile and accessible, I designed a 70-piece jigsaw puzzle unlike any other. Each piece featured my signature colour-coded Braille, forming part of an interactive “Braille by Numbers” kit. It was created especially for young children to engage with touch and creativity.

Children were guided to place tactile Braille dots onto their puzzle pieces, learning both Braille and colour association. Once completed, the puzzle revealed a vibrant artwork that echoed my lifelong message:

“Art is for everyone.”

Impact:

Despite the distance, this collaboration exemplified global inclusion through creativity. The finished puzzle was more than a piece of art—it became a symbol of connection, learning, and accessibility.

Inclusion in Connectivity was not just the name of the project, but its entire ethos—proving that even across continents, we can create experiences that unite, inspire, and include.
