Dot to Dog

Project: Dot to Dog — Paws on the Wharf Trail 2024

Location: Canary Wharf, London

Date: March 2024

In partnership with: Guide Dogs for the Blind x Wild in Art

In March 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to be part of the Paws on the Wharf sculpture trail — a vibrant, public art event raising awareness and funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind, in collaboration with the creative powerhouse Wild in Art.

My sculpture, titled Dot to Dog, transformed a larger-than-life Labrador into a multi-sensory celebration of sight loss, braille, and inclusion.

Inspired by colour blindness tests, Dot to Dog was covered in thousands of hand-painted dots, mostly in shades of calming blues. Hidden among these, in a striking purple palette, were 26 paw prints — one for each letter of the alphabet. Within these purple paw prints, I embedded raised braille letters, offering a tactile experience for blind and partially sighted visitors.

This was more than just a visual piece — it was designed to be felt, explored, and interpreted through touch. Located prominently outside Canary Wharf Tube Station, Dot to Dog was not only part of the trail but also featured on the front cover of the trail leaflet.

One of the most heartwarming moments was seeing VIPs (visually impaired people) of all ages interacting with my dog — their hands discovering the braille and textures, showing just how powerful inclusive public art can be.

Dot to Dog stood as a joyful reminder: art is for everyone, and when we design with accessibility in mind, we invite more people to experience the magic.
