The Allaways of Gosport

Project: The Allaways of Gosport – A Braille LEGO Toy Mural

Location: Gosport, Hampshire

Artists: Clarke Reynolds x Bricksy

Partners: Sustain and Conserve

Year: November 2023

Overview:

A celebration of place, play, and inclusivity—The Allaways of Gosport is a bold and joyful public artwork created in collaboration between braille artist Clarke Reynolds and the elusive LEGO street artist Bricksy, with support from environmental organisation Sustain and Conserve.

Together, we transformed a wall in Gosport into a vibrant LEGO mural, designed to look like a toy box tipped on its side—a cascade of nostalgic objects spilling out across the bricks.

But this isn’t just any mural.

It’s a mural that you can read.

Concept

Inspired by Clarke’s own connection to Gosport and Bricksy’s playful aesthetic, this piece fuses iconic toy imagery—from LEGO bricks to classic figures—with braille letters built from tactile LEGO studs.

At the heart of the mural is a poem about Gosport, written by Clarke, celebrating the town’s history, community spirit, and seaside charm. The lines are spelled out in Clarke’s unique “building blocks of braille,” offering a tactile reading experience for blind and visually impaired visitors.

Message & Materials

This mural isn’t just visual—it’s multi-sensory, inclusive, and educational. It was created using sustainable materials and reclaimed LEGO bricks where possible, aligning with Sustain and Conserve’s mission to promote reuse and community-led regeneration.

The result is a joyful, street-level tribute to:

The power of play
The beauty of accessibility
The spirit of Gosport

Impact:

This mural marks a first for Gosport—a braille-integrated public artwork that invites people of all ages and abilities to engage with art, language, and place. Whether you’re a child recognising your favourite toy, or someone running your fingers along the bumps of a poem, this is a space that welcomes everyone.

Quote from Clarke Reynolds:

“LEGO is something every child connects with. I wanted blind children—and adults—to connect with it too. This mural says: Gosport is for everyone, and art should be too.”

Legacy

The Allaways of Gosport mural stands as a permanent reminder that accessibility can be playful, poetry can be physical, and art can build bridges—one brick at a time.
