A Braille Christmas First
A Braille Christmas First – ASK Italian x Clarke Reynolds
In December, I had the privilege of designing the UK’s first-ever braille window display to celebrate the launch of ASK Italian’s new Christmas menu — a bold step toward inclusion and accessibility in high street dining.
Installed at their flagship Oxford Street restaurant in London, the centrepiece was a giant snowflake made entirely in braille, spelling out the festive promise:
“Three course meal… and of course, a drink.”
This wasn’t just about festive décor — it marked a significant moment for accessibility in hospitality. Alongside the display, ASK Italian proudly launched braille menus across their restaurants, ensuring that visually impaired diners could independently access the full dining experience during the busiest season of the year.
Project Highlights
- UK’s first braille window display
- Installed at Oxford Street, London – ASK Italian’s flagship location
- Giant tactile braille snowflake designed and hand-crafted to read a key menu message
- Coincided with the nationwide launch of braille menus across ASK Italian locations
This collaboration was more than decoration – it was a symbol of change. One snowflake can start a flurry — and this project shows that inclusive design can (and should) be part of every industry, right down to the Christmas window.
“Being part of this campaign showed how something as simple as braille can bring independence, dignity, and joy — especially at Christmas.”
